Project Synopsis

The Salman Oil field forms part of the major developing offshore oil and gas fields in the Persian Gulf, Iran. The existing facilities have been producing since 1968 with a current production rate of 100,000 BBL/day.

The planned development of the oil production facilities aims to increase production by 50,000 BBL/day of crude production and recover 500 MMSCFD of gas from the Dalan Reservoir.

The new offshore facility of Dalan is made up of the following 5 platforms.
· Living Quarters, LQ3
· Wellhead Platform, 2SK-A
· Wellhead Platform, 2SK-B
· Wellhead Platform, 2SK-C
· Production Platform, KPP

The system provides centralized monitoring of all the loads on each of the platforms. Each platform will have its own dedicated Siemens S7-400 PMS PLC that is linked to the main platforms WINCC based Operator Station via an Industrial Ethernet communications platform.

This will allow the operators to optimize the electrical network power consumption across all facilities and when supply characteristics necessitate, optimize usage to allow the continued safe operation of the facility.

Each of the PMS PLC’s will be connected over Profibus DP to remote sub PLC’s such as Auto Transfer Scheme (ATS) PLC’s & Load Shedding PLC’s.

Each of the PMS PLC’s will also monitor Information from Simocode DP Intelligent Motor Starter Units that are also connected over a Profibus DP network.

Each of the PMS PLC’s will monitor available data from Schneider SEPAM Intelligent Relays that will be connected over dedicated Modbus communication links.

The scope of work included:

  1. Software development
  2. Commissioning
